I'm moving to NYC at the end of August to attend FIT! I'm happy to be done with the college application process and to have gotten into each school I applied to (5). I was most excited about FIT and Parsons, which I'd much rather not go bankrupt attending. Very soon I will be sharing a tiny room and tiny closet with a (tiny?) dancer from New Hampshire, sans personal kitchen, avec communal bathroom. I'm hoping my introversion won't bring me to a hermit status. Half of me wishes I was one of those people that adds and talks to everyone and their mother, while the other half finds that a bit obnoxious. I'll work on finding a happy medium, but for the time being, are there any New Yorkers out there?
In other news, I went to Japan (Tokyo & Osaka) for two weeks in June. I loved Tokyo and can't help but come away thinking Japan is superior to the US in many ways. I may post more pictures another time. Other than that, my summer has been pretty quiet. I must mention, though, that I thought Bruno was a total disappointment - much too over the top and far more disgusting than hilarious. Your thoughts?

Edit: I am dividing this post into two parts because this many pictures is making even my computer lag, and I don't want to do that to you! This post is dedicated to MaiLinh (shookashooka), who is the reason I am even posting at all. It's crazy how little of my life is documented on here! I feel like my life has changed so much over the year (okay, so maybe it hasn't), and it's not at all evident on here. So prepare for your browser to possibly crash from this onslaught of pictures. Speaking of which, could Firefox be more annoying at times? Every time it makes an automatic update, it just has to crash.
My life as of late: Over the past few weeks, I have been trying to learn all the technicalities of drawing and practicing fashion sketching. I've already improved so much in both, though spending so much time drawing has made me a bit of a hermit... I changed my courses a bit in order to be in costuming class this semester. It is the perfect way to end my school day, and I've also been staying for two hours every day after school, which is when I get most of my work done. There are far less people in the room after school. Ms. Webber, the costuming director/teacher has already taught me so much in the few months that I've been helping out. I envy her knowledge and talent! I can't even explain how excited I am to have part of my day devoted to sewing and designing (I often don't have time at home). I feel like I've also improved a lot design-wise. I will later post pictures of things I've been making. I've also been working on college application challenges, which I will be done with within the next two weeks. I've suddenly set my sights on New York, and I am honestly brimming with excitement about the future! Sorry for being obnoxious, but I'm just loving life! ( a ton )

My dad killed him after I took these... :( On a happier note, Happy Thanksgiving to those who celebrate it!

This is Mr & Mrs. McGrew, standing beside their Prius for the Go Green page of the yearbook. Things have been very good! I sent the Peter Pan photos to the theatre director, and he really liked them. I have been enjoying yearbook a lot more lately. Today it was announced that my design for the Project Graduation t-shirt contest won, which means over 900 students will be wearing the design. I won $100 for it, which I think will go to a new lens with insane bokeh. I've been taking a lot of pictures lately (though I haven't been posting them...getting on that). The photos I submitted to be on the town's Monopoly board that is being created to raise money for special needs students, and Mrs. McGrew, who is organizing the whole thing, would like me to take additional pictures for the board. This positive feedback I have been getting from everybody is very encouraging. I am now on Thanksgiving break! My plans are to eat dinner with my dad, sister, and dad's friend's family, possibly do something with my sister, who will be visiting, take pictures of a foggy morning (?), finish my economics project for 'extra' credit, read some of Pride & Predjudice for English, find my phone (for once in my life? maybe?), get that new lens (and use the shit out of it) finish this laptop sleeve I have started, finish skirts for my bosses, and make something functional from resin. WHAT IS WITH THIS ADVERTISMENT VISIBLE TO NON-LJ USERS? It looks awful and completely throws off my layout. Is there anything I can do to move it or make it more discreet?

I saw my school's performance of Peter Pan last night, and it was absolutely amazing. I volunteered to help with costumes (costuming class wasn't compatible with my fixed class periods, so I just helped out after school), which made the experience even more incredible, to see everything come together so wonderfully. The costumes looked so great on stage. All the little details really help to make pieces look totally over-the-top. The set was gorgeous, as well. They had band and orchestra students, as well as professionals, performing live music, which created a really nice atmosphere. The play was so epic that I almost teared up at some parts. I am so happy for all the actors. I know they have worked so hard to prepare for this performance. Andi, who played Peter Pan, was adorable! I don't know who else could have pulled off the role so perfectly. Kaitlin, Jon, and Nicole are so talented, and I'm excited to see what they do in the future! They must feel just euphoric from the success of this play. I basically do just from seeing it.
So enough gushing, here are some pictures. I forgot my memory card, so Gonzalo let me borrow his camera (he just got a D70, whaat), for which I am eternally grateful. I adore his lens, might I add.
